Leket

Leket

Today we were glad to serve with Leket (gleanings). It’s considered the national food bank. Obviously after the command in Leviticus 19.9-10. It’s also carried out in the book of Ruth. The Israeli’s were supposed to leave some of the crops for the stranger, or in todays age it’s for the poor. Leket serves 273,000 families each week!

Today, we were picking Kohlrabi. Some of them were at least 3 or 4 pounds! The team really got after it. They picked at least 4,800 lbs that will go to at least 1,200 families. It’s a tremendous system and it was good to be a part of it today.

The trek to the crop.
An average size Kohlrabi.
Smiley Babalucci working by my side, showing us how it’s done.
We filled 4 or 5 bins.
Showing our dirty hands. Stained purple too that wouldn’t wash off.
